Savory Turkey Meatloaf

Okay, so I know meatloaf sounds so southern and like a total 50’s mom recipe…you may be right, but I’m totally here for it.

Meatloaf is a dinner that has been around for years, but I’m here to put a small spin on it.

A few weeks ago, I was CRAVING meatloaf, but I didn’t have any ground beef in my freezer; however, I did have turkey. So I thought, okay so it won’t be as good, but maybe it’ll suffice.

I was proven so wrong!

Turkey meatloaf is now my new favorite and let me tell you why…

It’s not nearly as fatty. It crisps up nicely. And it’s by far the most flavorful because it’s not overpowered by the “meaty” flavor that ground beef carries.

So without further ado, here’s my recipe for turkey meatloaf…

Turkey Meatloaf:

Ingredients for meatloaf:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup if panko bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup of grated parmesan
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 3 TBSP finely chopped onions
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 TBSP of Worcester sauce
  • S & P to taste

Ingredients for topping sauce:

  • 1/4 cup of ketchup
  • 1 TBSP of Worcester sauce
  • 1 TBSP of brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. Combine all ingredients, with a fork or your hands
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and form the meat mixture into loaf form
  4. Bake for 40-45 minutes
  5. Remove and add topping
  6. Return to oven and bake for 5-10 more minutes or until sauce is slightly caramelized
  7. Enjoy!

**You can always substitute turkey for the meat of your choosing**
